What is My Kirie?

For many people, kirie is simply the art of cutting paper.

For me, it is something different.

I begin not by drawing shapes, but by drawing lines.
Every line must remain connected, supporting the entire image like the branches of a tree.

Because of this, each work is created from a single sheet of paper.
Nothing is added.
Nothing is removed.
Only the paper itself remains.

When the finished work is gently lifted, the drawing leaves the surface and begins to exist in space.
It can rest in the palm of your hand, allowing light and shadow to pass through its lines.

I believe this delicate balance between strength and fragility is what makes kirie unique.

Rather than creating an image on paper, I hope to create an experience that can only be discovered by seeing the work in person.
